Default Milling head causes Cooling Problem?

Will milling a head .030" have any effect on the cooling system? More specifically, could milling a head cause the car to run much cooler than stock?

I dont see why it would have any real effect, just from milling the head

Thanks for the reply man. J Davis tunes this car on eCtune and says it used to run a steady194- 210 stock. i swapped to a milled head that i bought about a year ago, and it now runs between 145- 165 when driving and peaks about 192 when sitting still. i recently had some work done to my stock head to include milling, and it still runs cool. any thoughts?

Did you replace the thermostat with a lower temp one - 195 to maybe a 180? Or could it be a fail safe thermo and it's open?

Yeah man. I had an autozone T-stat when it was stock. When I swapped the head, it started having cooling problems. I replaced the T-stat with an OEM Honda model, and it did the same thing. This last time I swapped the head, I also swapped IM, T-Stat housing, and went with an OEM Honda T-stat to match the t-stat housing and IM.

Maybe the ECT sensor or the wiring to it got knocked around a bit when you were switching heads. Check the wiring...or try another sensor maybe if you can get your hands on one.

If anything, I was told milling a head excessively would cause overheating.

I've already replaced the unit with an brand new one from Honda, and there's no difference between the two.
