how loud is a race header?
my friend put a vibrant wit hfc on his car and it made virtually no difference in sound. (stock intake and exhaust).
the difference between stock header and vibrant race no cat on mine wasnt loudness so much, just tone really. i have sri and vibrant catback.

I don't think there is a prob. with a race header or any other header but you need to have some type of cat present. I have no cat and no check engine light but technically I still need to have one to pass inspection. I'm in PA. Even if you have no check engine light the inspector is suppose to physically check for a cat.

you guys know that obama is pushing the ca emissions law across the whole u.s right?
but back on topic, its kinda hard to tell if the rh is louder than stock, but from what i remember with just the dcrh, it sounded the same when you drive normal, but when you hit vtec it was slightly louder. now my car is just loud all the time with the addition of the injen sri and s2rh

Obama's gonna have a HARD time gettin that law passed. Stricter mileage and emissions standards means cars that are smaller, lighter, less powerful, and LESS SAFE.
Just installed a Vibrant race header without a cat to my HKS sport Ti cat back. Noise is not that much different as compared to the stock header. Deeper sound and maybe 25% louder that straight stock.
im alabama, anything goes, my buddy is rinnin some cheapo headers wstraight pipe(no cat) just headers pipe and cheapo tip, loud as hell, i can hear him, no joke, like 3 miles away, its redonkulous
I had a 95' civic it needed a cat and had a tail pipe test done at my inspection which included an emissions test.
And my 08' SI has less than 5,000 miles on it so I am exempt for emissions but still am supposed to have a cat on the car even thought I'm exempt. If you drive your car less than 5,000 miles a year in PA you are emissions exempt.

well as I said in the beginning of the thread, I had a test pipe on with a 70mm exhaust. It was unbearably loud, but much more powerful. I but the stock pipe with the cat back on (kept the exhaust) and it is a lil bit more quiet. So is it a consences that race header is not too much louder than stock header even with exhaust?
how much r those vibrant headers i had one on my hatch but i sold it they r sweet but not race worthy i would say to answer the question do the header in stead of a test pipe for sure unless its off the street
these laws will have no problem coming into effect.
