Default ac compressor replacement

i have a really simple question.
have someone of you changed the ac compressor from underneath the car ?
i know that the way to be usually done is to remove the power steering but if i have 2 carjacks i can easy go under the car and swap it since there is nothing under the compressor but just empty space.

Whichever way you go, let us know whether it can be done from the bottom. I've been wondering the same question myself.

why wouldn't you loosen the belt?? 14mm wrench for the pulley, and 10mm socket for the tensioner.

well i jacked the car today and went underneath to see and it does not look optimistic.... if i remove the 4 bolts there is space and the compressor is gonna come out , but there is no way to reach from anywhere to loose the belt i guess that im gonna start reading in the manual about the regular methor trough removing the power steering ...

Oh that would suck, the power steering is the reason I don't want to do my timing belt and will have it done by someone else. It's just too much hassle.

why are you afraid of your power steering, its like 2 bolts. take the pump and the reservoir together and lay them off to the side, then there's plenty of room to do whatever you need to do.
