Help - Car is dying, noone can figure it out
1996 Acura Integra B18C1 with a Hondata computer... has a turbo on it, w255 fuel pump, motorola 2.5 bar map sensor and a propper tune
The car was running perfectly until it just died on me... I pulled over, turned the key off, turned the key back on and went to start the car, it would crank and fire only to die immediately.
Had the car towed home... Now I can start it and it will run for maybe 10 seconds then die, if i give it any gas it falls on its face and dies immediately. Ifigured it could be a map sensor, replaced the map sensor, same problem... Thought maybe fuel filter, replaced that, same problem, checked the tune, tune is perfect...
Figured ok, maybe its cutting spark, got my can of starter fluid out and can rev the engine up with using starter fluid and keep it going as long as i want.
I have yet to check fuel pressure but have a gauge on its way...
Im getting desperate for ideas.... anyone have any? I doubt its fuel pressure as there is a LOT of pressure in the line.

Im thinking the aftermarket fuel pump overran the stock FPR... if it is indeed fuel pressure related

So how exactly does it die? Does the idle become rougher and then it shuts down, or is it abrupt and dies fast?
If it dies super fast (idle does not slope off) I would think it's spark/distributor related. I've had temperamental modules that have left me pulling my hair out and behave kind of like this.
Does it start as well as before? da-da-da-vroom?

starts great, the way it dies is like its falling on its face, it kinda sputters and dies.... i dont think its spark related because i can keep it alive as long as i want by shooting carb clean or starter fluid.

i had the same same same same same exact problem with my car. Honda civic h22 turbo...it would idle for 10 seconds and bang. If we gave it gaz, died righr away. I had a 2é5 bar motorola map sensor...we tried everything and i just put the stock ecu and map and injectors. The car ran fine
try that for the fun...put stock ecu, map and injectors and see if it dies

well i know the map sensor is not bad.... replaced it with a brand new one and they both read exactly the same..
i am hoping its fuel, i cant get a gauge for a few days as its in the mail but i am buying an aftermarket fuel pressure reg. today

no oil pressure is definately a bad thing. check the gauge make sure it works ok. as far as dying like that try unplugging the iacv located on the intake. this thing controls the amount of air you have coming into the intake. if you have fuel and spark then the other obvious thing to check is the air. unplug it and see if the problem acutally reverses where the only time it will run will be with your foot on the gas. if this works then you need a new one. let me know.
UNBOLT THE RAIL AND SEE IF FUEL COMES OUT OF THE INJECTORS?
First off, try and hold one injector on the rail without it being forced off by the pressure. Then... try and hold on all four. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
Great idea... lets let fuel spray out all over the bay to try and diagnose a fuel problem.
My new sig.
UPDATE - i put the stock tune back on the car with the injectors set at 240cc instead of 750cc.... the car idles and runs.. like ****... but still runs... what does this tell you guys?
02 sensor or clogged cat?
try running open header for a lil bit .. if that doesnt help it rules out clogged cat, heard about this same thing happening on a g2 and he cat ended up being the culprit
im used to dsm's .. can you run a data log with your setup?

No o2s... No cats.. Dumping off the turbo
I too am used to dsms... Got a 10sec eclipse running dsmlink... With hondata I can data log but everything is working fine... All sensors are reading perfectly:/
