Need help from S2k guys
Hi everyone. I recently got a F20c1 block with a tap broken off in the crank's threads. The tap is only broken off about 1/4 into the threads I was going to try and put f20 into my civic but after reading the pain and labor involved I decided to just sell it as is. My question is what can I expect to get for the block, crank, pistons, knock sensor etc. I know the going rate for just the block is around $350.00 without anything but the block. I have pictures but I'm a noob on here and can't figure out how to post them.lol. Thanks
anyone? I sorry if this is a stuipd question I'm being honest and don't know much about this engine just trying to get it off my hands and start an easier build with the money I could get for the block
thanks
thanks
If you can't get the tap out then the block is probably toast, which means it's worth nothing. You could sell off the knock sensor and other stuff to try and get some $$ back.
the tap is only broken off in the crank not the block itself, so i'm thinking the crank just needs to be replaced right? I mean the tap isn't broken in the block. the block has a few cat scraches down the clnyder walls but looks to be in good shape for the most part. I've researched all my honda needs on this site but just became a member and I can't figure out how to post pics to show you guys

Hmm... I would normally say use an extractor on it but I don't know how well that would work with tool steel.
I can help you with your photography though. Use the macro mode when taking close up pictures like you are above. To turn it on, look for this icon:

thanks njn63 I'll keep that in mind next time I take more photos of the block. Yeah I figured that it would be a pain to try and take it out with an extractor. I was going to take it to the local machine shop and have them try to take it out but, the threads are must likey damaged. I wasn't the one to put the tap in there so I dont know if its been crossthreaded or not. Really I'll probally end up selling it as is or tradeing it for something more realistic to go into my ek
lol. yeah I wish, I said realistic I highly doubt someone would trade my f20c1 for a k20. But then again I don't know the going rate or trade value for an s2k block with spare parts.... thats why I started this thread, I really only know the bacis of the f20c engine nothing more
Yeah thats what I was expecting, it is imo in fair shape(cat scratches down the cylnder walls) can still see the crisscross pattern tho. I got an offer on craiglist but it was to low for what i'm including with the block. Thanks white smoke for answering my question
well just to keep anyone still looking at this thread informed. I got the tap out and learned a few neat tricks from some great guys over at S2ki.com. but here's mt write up for thoose interested https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-s2000-5/remove-broken-tap-2598774/. oh and by the way its for sale in the market place to .lol
