I'm new to the site, but not my 96 Civic EX. I have had my Civic for 2 years so far and I have had to only regular maintenance to it. I did all the repairs myself but I have not done any upgrading. When I got my EX it had a loose shifter and that was the only thing wrong with it. So I was reading on the site about other peoples problems with loose shifters and what they did to fix the problem. The most common solution was the ES Bushing kit. I got it installed today and it still moves. So I gave up and just got a Skunk2 dual bend short shifter and shift ****. I needed an excuse to get a new shifter anyway.

So the tranny sound is weird. When I take off from first it doesn't make any noise till I get up to about 4k RPM then it make a the noise. And from second it make the noise at a lower RPM. Then it does it no matter what RPM I'm at in third to fifth. The noise is kinda like a whine noise. It gets louder at higher RPM. I had one of the CV shafts replaced about a year ago, don't remember which one. But the driver side shaft is leaking fluid where it goes into the tranny. So with that being said, I believe that it is the CV shaft but I don't want to replace it and find out that it was the tranny its self. So you guys have any words of wisdom for me? I would love to hear some responses. I just wanted someone to bounce some ideas off of. Let me know what you guys think.

Input shaft seals are bad.

The transmission whine may be from a lack of lubrication due to a low oil level.

 

I forgot to add that i just changed and refilled it with the Honda M/T fluid. Thanks for the quick reply!
