B20 into EK distributor/spark problems.
So I swapped a B20 into my EK a week ago. The car seemed to idle fine, but hesitated once it was in gear and driving. After driving it for about 10 minutes, the car dies on me. I try to start the car and there doesn't seem to be any spark coming from the distributor. Seeing as it was the only thing I didn't buy new when doing the swap, I bought another one. The car started fine and idled fine, but once again hesitated once I started driving it. The car's running an OBD2 p75 ECU, so i figured the reason why it was hesitating were sensor problems. I went ahead and ordered a OBD 1 P75 ecu and conversion harness figuring that it would solve hesitation. In the meantime I've been driving it as is. Sunday, on my way back from softball, it dies on me again. Same problem, no spark. I went ahead and ordered another distributor. I just put it on, the car started, then immediately died. Once again, no spark? Any ideas? Keep in mind I haven't dropped in the new ECU and harness yet.
FIRST off check ignition coil fuse in your dash fuse panel, i had the same problem and ordered a whole new ignition system, and it was a 20 cent fuse. if the fuse is good then check the ignition coil, and igniter located inside the distributor.
Isn't the coil replaced with the whole distributor? I went through 3 distributors within a 2 week period. It can't be a coincidence that 3 coils went bad on 3 different distributors can it? Something seems to be making either the coil, or the whole dizzy go bad. All 3 dizzies were used, so I'm gonna try a new one and see if that works. If not, I'm stumped. Any other help would be much appreciated guys. Thanks.
so it worked when you replaced the whole thing then it stopped again? again, check the fuse under your dash for the ignition coil.
