H23A Vtec Blue Top into 97 Prelude wowes... Help?
Hi Guys,
I've been searching the net for a few days to find a solution, but I'm at a loss. I offered to help a buddy swap a motor into his 97 Prelude. The motor that came in on a pallet is a H23A Vtec Blue Top. The motor that we pulled out is the stock H22A4.
Unfortunately, the guys that ship the motor did the fancy cut-all-wires trick to make the job easier for themselves. We are now stuck with the problem of the H22A4 and H23A Vtec Blue Top wire harnesses are not interchangeable. I would like to have just spliced them together using the new plugs, but they don't all have the same number of wires to the same sensors.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?
From what I understand now is that the H23A Vtec Blue Top is OBDI? Can we just get a new H23A Vtec Blue Top wire harness and ECU and things will work out, or is there more to it?
Thank you for your help!
Jon.

I was trying to use the H22 wiring harness, but I stopped when some of the clips didn't match up. I was going to splice them in, but didn't get past the sensor on the intake because the H23 is a 3 wire sensor and the H22 was a 2 wire. Can we just switch sensors?
Thanks again for any help!

Use the H22 wire harness. Use the top half of your stock H22 intake manifold (stock IACV) and stock EGR valve. Use the stock distributor, as well as a US oil pump to mount the CKP/TDC sensors to, OR rig up the OBD1/JDM style distributor to plug into the H22's crank sensor plugs, but if you use a stock OBD2 ECU it will not like it.
i cant get spark i have a 99 base prelude that has a jackson superchager i blew up the h22 and got a h23a bluetop i cant figure out y i cant get spark
H23 Blue top came out a 96-00 accord wagon SIR, 2wd of 4wd, 5 speed auto triptonic transmission, OBD 2, both a blue lude and manbearpig are fright follow there direction I got the exact same setup in my accord and I'm using an 95 prelude OBD1 dizzy with all three sensors in it. It works rather well remember you eliminate the forward coolant sensor you can also use you vtec pressure sensor since the JDM does come with it( I don't have one on mine) also try to use the throttle body from your prelude since it has a idle screw and the H23 does not due the factory ecu running the idle adjustment. Good luck
