Default Installing Radio Reciever

Don't mean to thread jack but I have a 98 Dx Coupe and I have an extra din I guess you can call it that. Its near the cup holder on the bottom, if you have seen the interior of a 98 coupe you will know exactly the spot im talking about, anyway I wanted to put my radio there and leave the stock face up at the regular place and have a double din that way is it possible and will it if there?

How is creating a new thread a thread jack?

Anyways... I'm pretty sure I know what you're asking, but just to be sure, I'll rephrase your rather-cryptic post...

You want to install an aftermarket radio down behind the shifter, and leave the stock deck up top, correct?

Yes, this is possible. In fact, I did this for many many years in my Civic.

I extended the wiring harness down to the cupholder area, and wired up the aftermarket deck as normal. You can unclip the antenna wire that runs up to the stock radio & it'll reach down below without needing to be extended.

I got even fancier () and left the stock deck powered up so the clock still worked too. Kept the "factory" look, instead of having a dead deck in the dash.

You rephrased what I said perfectly. That is exactly what I want the face down below and the oem radio to be used as a clock and when I remove the radio face below the stock radio is there. OEM FTW! lol Thanks for your help, how did you leave the deck powered up? When I extend the cables down and connect the radio receiver will it keep the stock deck powered?

to keep the deck up top powered you just need to use that head units stock harness and power the ground/acc/constant 12v. yea thread jacking is when you go onto like a thread where someone is asking about wheels and your ask about a radio in the reply comment sections...

^^^ i agree, just keep you power wire, acc and ground from the oem harness up top and extend your speaker wires down below and run your own power and ground, for the new deck, (its best that way) and then just splice your acc so both decks come on when the car does.
