Post your single stage paints and tips
Sup honda-tech! Im finally going to paint my crx. Im on a super tight budget and Im just looking for some insight and results. First off Im pretty much set solid on going with the single stage route. a BB/CC just costs too bunch for a beginner like me and I think $50 paint jobs... well look exactly like they cost $50. I would like for you guys to post up some pics of your single stage jobs, paints used, equipment and so on. also what are some tips on perfecting a single stage for maximum gloss? I don't really want my car too look cheap.
This is what I will be working with:

The paint Ive been looking at is summit racing's new single stage urethane system that has an optional clear coat. Any one have any experiences with this paint? and is it ok to rattle can primer only? With you input and after I choose paint expect an paint build thread going though the whole process. thanks

in reality a single stage paint job for material should be around $100 (in chicago area) you can get cheapo base/clear for $175-$225 (again in chicago area). i highly suggest saving for a little bit and doing base/clear. in the end its your decision but i have sprayed single stage for friends and they always say "man i should have waited". well best of luck to you.
Thanks Is it harder to spray a BB/CC? Ive done some shopping in my area and there is nowhere I can get a BB/CC system for anywhere near $225. I know one dude who painted his eg hatch with single stage and it came out really glossy (about as glossy as some bb/cc's ive seen)
look into restoration shop paint bc/cc you can get the kit on ebay for 199.oo that includes a gallon of paint and a gallon of clear and all the reducer/ hardners.
well I talked to an automotive shewin williams paint guy and I can get a straight black 2qt of black and 1qt of reducer and one gallon of clear for a total of $190. Anyone use sherwin williams before? I guess Im gonna try out this bb/cc hopefully it comes out shiny.
shewin williams paint is pretty good...
