Default Boost on stock internals

Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched but couldn't find anything.

I'm running a B18C1 block with a B16 head and all stock internals besides crower cams and AEM cam gears on a 95 Civic EX. How must boost can I safely run.. I'm currently at 9 lb.'s. The car isn't a daily driver but I'd like to keep the upkeep on it as low as it is now.

Any help is appreciated

9lbs is probably pushin it, how long have you had this set-up? but yea i was gonna suggest like 7-8lbs but if 9 is givin you any trouble i wld say stick with that

I've been running this set-up for about a year, no problems yet.

first of all 9 psi means nothing if we dont know the setup turbo size, you need to worry more about hp. Some are pushing 350 on stock blocks with np I would stay under 300 myself if you want to be on the safe side. This is with a good tune anyway.

people have ran 12psi sometimes more, but i wouldnt reccomend going over that...
if you have a really good and mean really good tune i think 12 would ok depending on how much you beat on it.

but if i were you id stay and 9psi and just do other things, to if your looking for more power.

Running Garrett T3/T4 turbo. When I had it tuned by Slowmotion Motorsports it was at 328whp @ 9psi.

I was thinking 12 would be about my limit too, but just wanted to be sure. The place it was tuned is the best place Ohio has to offer, so I know it was a good tune.

block guards are crap. if you were running enough boost to warrant protection for your cylinder walls, then you need to sleeve the block. the weak point when boosted stock engines fly apart is generally either the rod bolts or the connecting rods themselves. you rarely see people cracking the stock sleeves unless they are running a lot of boost.

although i haven't had my car tuned by slowmo i will vouch for them cause i know guys that have had their cars tuned by them. cant recall his name off the top of my head but the one guy that works there has a legit gsr teg, leather seats, etc, and he has an effin d16y7 in it! its funny as hell and truly a site to behold lol. some guy i guess wanted to swap his c1 into a civic chassis, and i believe as part of payment the guy let him keep the now engineless teg. all he had at the time was a y7 lying around so he threw some mounts together and dropped her in lol.

blockgaurds do warrant some protection not for the internals but as far as cylinder walk at high boost you wont have that.

Just don't go over 300hp. On stock sleeves, you are pushing it. Not to mention the rods. 300hp is about as much as you can really drive on the streets and have decent traction. You should be able to get that reliably with a good tune.

did you read the post he is already over 300 hp lol, and lots of people are running 500 hp and up on stock sleeves. best thing you can do is talk to your tuner and see what they are comfortable pushing it to, and get the psi number out of your head tune for a hp figure whatever psi it takes to get there that's what it is .

while there are people running lots of boost, you have to ask yoruself how long you think the motor is going to last. The more you push it the bigger chance you have of having a problem, and if there is a problem, the more tight the setup is the more disastrous effect the problem is going to cause. Also the more boost you run you are going to haev to up your octane and your going to be going through alot of very expencive fuel.
There is this guy around here who has a B20 VTEC Boosted setup, with a Golden Eagle block, and a high compression setup. he runs 115 Octane race fuel and still gets **** MPG. But he made 485WHP on 16PSI from a GT30 I think it was.

Hey all, I'm looking at building my first d16 engine and was hoping to be in the 350hp range reliably, I've built a list let me know what you think.

1000CC injectors are totally overkill. I have some ancient PTE650s and i get 90% duty cycle making like 340WHP.
I might upgrade them now when I finally get around to retuning the car and stuff these days.... haven't done much with my civic in 5 years now (basically since my son was born).
I personally wouldn't worry about a bigger fuel rail either unless you have some other fuel rails there in AU. I use the stock D16 one and never had an issue.
As far as the Turbo kit; I am not familiar with it. I have used Holset and chinese turbos in the past.... usually name brand stuff lasts a long time and other stuff doesn't. I went through 3 ebay turbos in 2 years, but I have heard they are better now.
