Rear bumper, on or off at the strip?
I noticed alot of guys at the last event at Moroso, were running w/o rear bumpers, or had holes cut into it. Now I know this is to free up the drag generated by the bumper at high speeds, but my question is, at which point does this really become beneficial? I heard that anytime your trapping around 100mph, you could benefit from not having a bumper on to trap air behind you, does this seem right to you? Anybody actually try this?
To add to the question... instead of removing the bumper (which is work and I'm lazy), could a "splitter" or something of that design, be used to divert air under the bumper? To keep it from acting like a parachute.
IMHO, off!

Speed holes will answer all of your questions and fill all of your desires.

Mista, do you think that is due to weight or drag???
Yeah that's what I thought (after I posted)
My rear bar is trimmed but that is just because I kept changing where my exhaust exited hehehe

I went from 12.9 to 12.8 with the bumper being removed.... definitely gives you a SLIGHT edge... no more than a tenth or so though.
Worth an average of 0.18 seconds over 10 runs on three different nights.
delSol rear bumper cover = 12 lbs.
I extensively and cosmetically trimmed it down to 3 lbs. for street/strip. Looks reasonable and adds no drag.
Just my $0.02...

Mine netted approx 20 Lbs with the bumper support and bumper cover.l Its weight and drag off the right area. It does make a diffrence: 1 mph and 1.5 tenths
