Icon2 Towing Questions

Hey everybody...new here to the site, I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey, with the towing package. I have a pop-up camper, weighing about 1800 pounds dry, about 2800-3000 pounds loaded. My question for you is, do you think a weigh distributing hitch is necessary or a electric brakes on the camper is needed. Also, how does the warranty work with this type of situation also. Thanks for all your help.

You'll be fine towing it, max trailer weight is 3500lbs. If you're going to be doing a lot of towing, you may look into a beefy oil and tranny cooler as well. You shouldn't need to worry about a weight distributing hitch, though it wouldn't hurt.

As for trailer brakes, you can do electronic brakes which works based on angles (dives = electronic brakes applied) or various brake controllers. Check your local ordinances as certain weights require one or the other, depending on local statutes and vehicle codes, based on the weight.

With warranty, if something goes wrong, they'll have to prove that you were improperly towing, and that's what caused the damages. Or that there was gross negligence involved somehow, whether it's driver error, or improper installation.

Good luck, and happy towing!

If it's the Honda towing package it comes with power steering and transmission coolers. Even an air duct for them. If you are towing without the coolers you will not have a transmission warranty if there is a failure due to towing.
With a popup camper I would definately recommend using trailer brakes.
