Default Manifold fabbers check in

Im doing a rbc intake manifold on my h22 swap. The manifold doesnt have a place to mount the iacv. So I was thinking of just making a plate and having it welded to the manifold. Does it matter where I put the plate and drill the hole for the iacv? I wanted to weld it at the bottom of the manifold so that isnt visible. Im guessing it wouldnt matter but I just want to make sure.

i made a plate that bolts to the IACV, and has two ports on it. one port is connected pre-throttle body , and another is post-throttle body.

if you look at an IACV setup on an intake manifold, one side of the iacv takes air from before the throttle body, and lets it into the manifold.

This sounds like a good idea. No need for welding but on the stock h22 manifold the iacv is mounted in the front. I cant really tell if its taking air from before the manifold. Ill probaly have to open the manifold and look. Do you have any pictures of your setup?

And thanks. I already made a plate if need to Ill make another one.

Yes it is.

Im going to buy a karcepts intake manifold adapter with the ports. I just have to figure out how to take air from the throttle body..

Karcepts manifold adapter? You mean QSD manifold adapter?

Sorry, I meant karcepts spacer. So I can hook up the iacv properly.

QSD has an adaptor plate for the RBC manifold to the H22. Not sure if they are selling them, but you should try giving them a call.

I was also going to go that route. Make a plate, drill the right holes and then weld it on. The only thing I worried about was if the plate were to warp and I would end up with a vacuum leak. I usually build everything but this was something I didn't want to hassle with. I ended up using a remote mount for the IACV. A simple machined block similar to T1 but made by AFI. Super simple: Weld a tapped bung on the charge pipe (before the throttle) and one on the intake plenum (after the throttle), mount your block somewhere you are satisfied, thread in all your fittings and route your lines where they go. And you're done. You're right about hiding the IACV, it does look clean. I made this intake with three ports on the bottom. (Left to Right pictured) Vacuum block source, Air intake temp, and the IACV. I strongly recommend this, but in the end it's your choice. Good luck, hoped this helped

do you know what the rough dimensions of that block are? L x W x H. or a link to where you purchased it?

Its really not that hard. You can make it to whatever dimensions you want it to be. Just lay out the iacv mounting holes and the inlet holes for the iacv. Then decide how you want to mount it. Anyways its looks like a 2x3 and 1/2 thick.

yeah i just wanted to order the aluminum before i took the iacv off. but yeah thats about what size i was guessing at exept about 3/4 thick, but i have to order the material by the foot so if anyone is interested i should have enough to make 2 or 3 extra if any one wants one made?
