Default Cam Timing on a B18C6 Cams/Head - B16A2 Block

Car is a 1992 EG VTI -

B16A2 Block
B18C6 Head
B18C6 Cams
B18C Intake Manifold
GReddy 4-2-1 Manifold
AEM V2 Induction

Recently took the B18C4 Head/Cams off the car and replace with the B18C6 Head/Cams, the C6 Cams came with Arospeed Cam gears on them, however the indication markings on the gears pointed up vertically, as opposed to the OEM horizontal markings.

Played with the timing abit yesturday, and altered the distributor angle slightly, was running fine for first 15mins, stopped driving it for a bit then after that would completely cut out with clutch in but run fine apart from that.

Got in it first thing yesturday morning, and quickly reversed off drive to move another car, for it to only cut as i tried pulling back in.. Then it wouldnt start after that, apart from when had foot down on the throttle bromping a lumpy burbling note from the exhaust and oviously not moving anywhere.

Anyway, changed the cam gears over from Arospeed (C6) to OEM (C4) as the horizontal marking, etc and tried again, now sounds like got f**k all compression and wont prompt any response..

Any dif between the C6/C4 Cam Gears?

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you may have bent some valves by improperly installing your cam gears.

Install the stock cam gears at top dead center per the factory helms manual specs, then complete a compression/leak down test to ensure the motor is ok.

i agree with mtber. more than likely bent valves. pull the plugs before cranking again and inspect them for damage. just to make sure the valves heads have not broken off.

Took everything off and checked the timing, intake was out so must have moved when finishing assembly somehow, timed it correctly and tried again, started after a while but had foot on gas, and revved it a bit to high and hard, bang! think every valves now bent! im a **** i know..
