ok guys. i recently put a sohc zc head on my d15b2 and ever since the car has been running weird. when i took the old head off i marked the cam gear and timing belt where the notches were at the time.. pulled the timing belt off and commenced taking off the head. before i put the other head on i put a new head gasket and intake manifold gasket.
torques the headbolts down correctly and in the correct pattern. took the cam gear that i marked on the old head and put it on the new head and lined the marks i made up when putting it back on. everything is hooked up correctly and whatnot.
i drive down the road and the valves are making all kinds of noise and the car is real hesitant and kinda sluggish. have no power unless im just cruising. if i push the gas it doesnt do anything but stutter and sloooowwwllly accelerate. this thing has a 7lb flywheel and revved slower than stock
get to work and a guy tells me that the valves need to be adjusted and everything he said could happen with them being the way they are was everything that happened. soo i get the specs on the feeler guage and what pattern to go by, so i adjust the valves while at work. i start it up and it revs like it should n no chatter, so i go back to work and close the store down.
i start driving down the road and the chatter gets loud again, louder than before and the car performs worse than before. i figured the kepper nuts loosened and all that. i get home n let it cool off b4 i check them again. they needed to be readjusted. did that, checked the timing by taking off the cap n sticking an extension on the #1 and i rotate the crank to TDC. everything lines up. so i put everything back together.
i just took it for a test drive and its still sluggish and has no power. soo im stumped on what it could be. could it be the timing and im too stupid to tell? or maybe another factor in the head itself?
any help would be gratly appreciated

Just checking, when you say everything lines up the:
1) cam gear lines up with the head, with the arrow pointing upwards?
2) the crank pulley mark lines up with the timing belt cover?
Is it still dpfi?

its multiport. the rotor button points to the number 1. up is in the general direction but the lines are flush to the head and valve cover area and the extension i put in the plug hole was all the way up

well i have found out that iits valve related.. i rereadjusted them and it runs 96 percent better.. theyre still not perfect so im gona take them to someone who can adjust them properly
just curious i got a zc sohc head lying around with the same motor and would like to know if you noticed any better hp than with the d15b2 head...im still dpfi myself but will be going mpfi

The extra capacity will give you a bit of a noticeable difference if you go mpfi with it.
