Default 1st 2nd 3rd 4..... uhh 2nd ****!

so my friend was getting on the highway with his h22 eg hatch everything is good we get onto the high way at top of second gear then shift to theird and pull all the way to 7500 then went to shift 4th and went into second for a slight second.... car started to idle rough after we pulled over.......

got towed to a shop and cylinder 3 has 0ps1.. cylinder 2 is under spec at 110psi and 1 and 4 have 160.

im gessing he bent the valves on cylinder 3.

were pulling the head today... any suggestions
what should we look for?

look for the problem "bent valves" , the guides could be done, and the head also good luck

x2 on the spec v...

My friend has only been through one trans though. I actually like it most of the time (shifts short, fairly nice gearing) but man, is it hard to find gears in that car sometimes. Kinda feels like a toy shifter when you put it in gear.

Maybe your friend should just buy a automatic. How the hell can you mistake 2nd for 4th?

I'm pretty sure your friend bent some valves on the #3 Cylinder.

Yeah, I love the engine. Not quite ideal for boost, but still will suprise the hell out of people who've never heard of it.

Pulls like no other stock N/A 4 cyl. I've ever driven.

lame spec-v = very unimpressive. my friend bought one when it was new and they were cool. he used to get so pissed my $2,000 **** box would keep up with him lol. oh well

and yeah to the OP that sucks. i'd pull the head and start looking for damaged bits. time for a upgrade so he can handle those high revs?
