Default Quick ecu/performance question

Hey, I have a 95 civic with a ls/vtec swap in it. b18b block, b16a2 head, I have a p30 ecu its been throwing a code for a knock sensor. And there isnt a knock sensor anywhere. Would this be causing me to lose power? And if so is there anything i can do about it to get it going right? ANy info would be helpful. Thanks

Yes, VTEC will not work if you have a CEL for a knock sensor. Is your ecu chipped?

Run a p28 or tune the p30 to run no knock.

Edit: I thought all obd1 ran no knock sensors. So nvm.

as far as i know it isnt chipped. but i also have a hondata s200 from another car p28. but its been tuned for a b16 turbo. like 6 lbs of boost. would it be fine to run that or have to get it retuned? or just get the p30 chipped?

buying a chipped ecu, or chipping your ecu should be cheaper than retuning the s200 at a shop.

Since you aren't boosted, I'm guessing a base map from phearable or something would be fine.

You could also just get a standard ECU from a B16A. But otherwise you need to have the knock sensor deleted from the ECU tune you are running. If you don't the VTEC won't work and you will also loose gas mileage and power. The knock sensor protects the motor from unfavorable conditions in the cylinders. So, if your ECU is throwing a CEL it is likely retarding your timing and maybe making your fuel richer to protect against the "KNOCK" that it thinks is happening. That will cause you to loose power and fuel efficiency..as I previously stated.
