Need to get new axles, dunno which one to get
Im new to this so can someone please help.
The chassis is 98
But the engine is a D16Z6 (I dunno if this is relevant)
Which Axle do i have to get, the one that is for a 98 or the one that is for the year of the engine?
Whenever Im on the freeway going 75-80, my steering wheel vibrates. i feel the vibration coming from passenger side.
Any help would be appreciated.

you would get new oem axles for that year make and model if that motor is original. and if your steering rak vibrates...its your tie rods or rack andpinion worn out. try to wiggle the outer tie rods. if theres play replace them
Any single cam axles should work, but if you want the axles that go with that model engine then that would be a 92 - 95 civic ex or si or delsol
Take the car to a alignment shop and pay them to tell you what is wrong.
Unless you sure what is bad, you'll spend $400.00 chasing may be's.
Why do you need axles ?
We can all guess sitting where we are. I can't be positive.

cmon guys.. high speed vibration problem. that screams BALANCING of the tires.
alignments wont cause vibrations
cv axles dont vibrate at highway speeds
tie-rods dont vibrate at all

I thought that first too.
You normally feel that in the seat if it's the rear tires and the steering wheel if it's the front. He's saying right floor, most likely an axle.

OP should be a mechanic if he can feel the location (besides front and rear) of his said vibration. that does take some mad precision skills.
unless his girls junk is vibrating more then his own man *****. /shrug

i can feel vibration when going 75-80. you can also see the steering wheel shake while going 75-80.
sometimes when i turn slightly to the right going 75, my steering wheel vibrates a lot more.
most likely its not wheel balancing, wheels are new, but i will check that too.
im no mechanic but, anyone here can probably say this also, you know your car better than anyone else.
im not sayin im 100% sure about the axle, that's why i asked you guys for help. i could be wrong.
thanks for the info guys, i will check all this tomorrow.

from the pic of your avatar it appears you have some nice rims. nice enough for the tech to not install weights on the outside lip. maybe the tech put on stick on weights on inside lip. if the tech did this then he will have a hard time finding the correct balance. the further out the wheel weights are..the better the balance. (think trampeze artist with the long stick...the longer stick he/she has the better the balance.)
just curious...is this the first time you have been 75-80 after the new tires?

Steering wheel shake is front tire balance.
Just because they are new, doesn't mean there not out of balance. Did yo tell the guy to balance them when he mounted the tires ?
If it still vibrates after getting the tires balanced, have the front end checked by a shop. You don't want anything to break while your driving it.
i had an accident 3 years ago. i think i hit something when i took the exit. the car bounced then flat tire. i hit on of those white pipe thingy on freeway exits. i hit the one that was already down so i didn't see it.

thanks, i would try this.
tomorrow im gonna rotate the tires first.
if it still vibrates, im gonna check the tire balance. but if does vibrate, most likely its not the tires anymore, right?
you have a hole in your rim wheer your valve stem goes.. that is weight lost right there. so your new rim is already out of balanced.
your new tire says what kind of brand it is.. that is weight added.. so right there your tire alone is out of balance.
put those two combonations togther and they result in an out of balance roundness. understand?
now go get your stuff balanced!! an out of balanced tire will cause tire wear in a swipe or patchy fashion. you risk destroying your tires over a 10 per tire balance?
you need yoru tires balanced every single time you get new tire put on. just because its a new tire..and or new rim..doenst mean anything.

thanks for the info.

anyway, i still went ahead to a shop that does "wheel balance"
the guy told me, nothing is wrong with the wheels. so i asked them to double check. they did the balance 3 times just to make sure. i also asked them to rotate the tires also to make sure.
so i went to the freeway to test, went 75 the steering wheel shakes or VIBRATES. same problem as before.
so my car was not SCREAMING FOR A WHEEL BALANCE in the first place, but no biggie, it was just to make sure and to deduct the problem.
ok, before anyone replies "a smart a$$ reply" im just trying to point out the the problem was not WHEEL BALANCE ISSUE
