Default What is this part?

I just crashed my girls dc5 the other day and the next day we take her dc2 to the body shop for the estimate for the dc5. On the way there, this part came off. I dont know what part this is, i just know that it was under where the filter part of her short ram was. Can you guys tell me what part this is?

Then no, you don't need it at all.

If you have a short ram, no air getting to tb is traveling through that thing. You don't need it anymore. Keep around though, just in case.

lol I still have my stock intake box and arm, but I tossed that thing LONG ago, like back in 2001 Instead I ran a tube from the air box straight down behind the turn signal, similar to the Comptech Ice Box system.

if you leave that in it still pushes air into the engine bay towards the intake, but if the filter end isn't near it then who cares. when i bought my car, it had an intake that put the filter in the stock position so you could still use the box with the aluminum tube.

Most people keep them because they need them to pass emissions in their state.

Which is retarded because a plastic box in the fender has no effect on emissions whatsoever.
