b16 cai piping diameter

would i benefit from using a 3" pipe over a 2.5" pipe? it seems like a velocity stack is a must. right now i am running stock airbox and i am wanting to add a cold air intake to maximize the top end of my b16.

i cant find any research on this. what size does aem make their cold air intakes?
