Default It finally happened..

My baby is gone. It was stolen last year but they caught the guys during a pursuit so the car was recovered. It was stolen again 2 months ago and this time I'm not as fortunate. Insurance paid me out $13,150. Plus tax and minus my deductible I'm getting $13,700.

Does that sound fair to you guys?

It's a 2001 with 114,000 miles(i drove this car EVERYWHERE)

Sorry to hear man. That amount seems like a decent amount. ITR's have gone down in value quite abit. I'm guessing it still had a clean title otherwise you would have got about half that.

Good insurance pay out. I'm looking to sell my R with half as many miles and I'm not expecting to make much more than $14k.

Did ITRs really go down that much??

I got Farmers. They wanted to give me 11k for the car but I had to 'educate' the person about the ITR. She went and did some research and since she couldn't find any for sale in my market she just gave me the KBB suggested retail price. I thought it was on the low end for an R..

I'm sure by now parts of my car is in 10 different civics/integras.... I f'ing hate the thought of that.

Yea I think that is a good pay out especially with the mileage. When I bought my 2001 R in the early part of the year it had only 54k on it and the bank would only loan me $14,200 which was nada's clean retail!

Glad to see they went back and did more research. Hopefully down the line the cars wills till hold value.

My friend totalled his e30 m3 and insurance gave him 29k and he sold the motor for another 7k. After seeing that kind of money I told him to total his other one and get a GT3!

Dammit. Very sorry to hear mang. Waste of air POS thieves...

Your settlement does sound good given ITR prices in the past year, assuming yours was fairly stock without many pricey parts. You shouldn't feel shafted by your insurance.

Sorry to hear that. 13k seems really reasonable. Are you going to buy another one?

I don't plan on buying another R anytime soon but I WILL eventually own another one(CW ofcourse ) in my lifetime. I loved the car too much to not have it again. I just hope by the time I'm in the market for another one it won't all be stolen.... f'ing theives.

Sounds a little low... At least you got a descent amount for your car after it was previously stolen.

Theives should lose their right arm!

that sounds about right... my 2nd py 01 itr salvage title was also stolen from me in March 09 my insurance gave me 13,900 after my $500 deductible. If you look in kelly's blue book type r value is only around 14k.

KBB doesn't really give values on Type-Rs and when they do it's a pathetic number like $10,000.

$13,900 for a salvaged ITR is sweet..

The ITR is in the KBB 'suggested retail value' section.

civicsiboyboy- It's good to hear you got the deck so quick.
