It was really a slow day for me and i decided to install the new cargo net my wife got me. from the dealer.
tools you will need drill, selection of drill bits 5.5mm and 9mm, center punch, a 6mm bolt about 2" long with a nut, 2 wrenches that fit the nut and bolt, a piece of scrap metal that you can drill a 6mm whole in, tape, silicone sealant, and a pair of vice grips/pliers.

First remove clip in the upper edge of the trunck liner

fold back the inner liner and drill the hole out to 9mm around here there no one caries anything but standard drill bits the 5/16 will work

once you drill out the whole apply touch up paint or a little silicone to help stop any rust

Next you need to install the rivnut into the hole and compress it. Honda has a tool for this or you can rent on from most honda dealers for about $20 plus a refundable deposit. or with about $2 in parts make you own. I used a left over metal receptical cover a 6mm bolt with nut .

thread the nut all the way to the top of the bolt slide on your peice of scrap metal and then tread the rivnut onto the bolt with the flange against the metal. It should look like this


slide the assembled rivnut into the hole hold the metal plate and head of the bolt with 1 wrench and tighten the nut down it takes about 3 full turns of the nut to compress the rivnut do not over tighten or you will damage it

once everything is tight remove the bolt and repeat for the other side it should look like this when done

thread the T hook onto its stud push the carpet back in place and thread the T hook assy into the installed rivnut

Now the fun part remove the spair tire coverand tape the templets down. Use your center punch to mark the holes that are for your car 2dr or 4dr


pull back the carpet and make sure the marks are in the center of the rail drill out the marks to 5.5mm. Honda recomends painting these holes also but threading in the self taping studs is going to scrape it off so I used silicone again to help stop any rust. Install the self tapping studs do not use the T hooks to install them. Once all the studs are in push the carpet over the stud and install the T hooks they should look like this

note the left side is almost at the very edge of the spare tire cover. this is normal
here the net is installed to devide the trunk

or down to be used like a tie down

when installed right the net can be opened and you have a pocket to slip things into now I have a way to keep things from rolling around in the back
