i have a 95 civic coupe its clean everytime i get next to a cop they always maddog me or start inspecting my car from the distance !!!i was wondering can they make me pop my hood for doing nothing wrong and i dont have a fart can either??one more thing is a tachometer illegal and can that be a probable cause to think i have a modded car??im in los angeles

 

If an officer see's anything that appears to be modified on the outside, he/she will mostly likely have a perfectly good reason to pull you over inspect the vehicle..if the officer doesn't see anything visually out of place from the outside or hear anything that would constitute a violation, then the officer would be performing an illegal search and seizure without just cause. There is a fine line, if your ride is slammed, then he would have warrant to have you lift your hood, because you would be deemed unsafe for the road. If you have a fart can and he asks you to rev it, they then have warrant to have you pop your hood and finally the officer will start from all the goodies you have inside. Once they get 1 thing that is modified and not deemed legal in our Golden State of Cali. then you know what's coming next. G.L.

 

yea they can even if u dont have a nice car. i guess people hide **** under the hood. and a tach isnt illegal but it will turn the wrong heads...

 

i have dc headers skunk2 manifold and a magnaflow exhaust and a aftermarket intake would u say its a good idea to get a carb legal intake incase they pull me over and would they make a big deal for any of the iteams i listed?

they dont have the right they will only ask u if u have anything modified. and its mostly your call u could say yes or no, but they need a warrant to search the car.

 

You need to make sure all of those components have CARB EO numbers or else you'll get sent to a ref.

I've been forced to pop my hood in md for a state trooper...and he asked me a whole lotta questions like "who put those wheels on ur car" and asked me what my c piller does. Always depends on the cop though cuz some of them r so cool and nice. Others like this state trooper r just idiots

true. Most states u need to have a house/apartment there. So find some family and have them say u live there that way u have diff tags lol.

nope, must be a physical address and you must have proof in every state, its actually federal mandate passed down to all 50 states

 

get the locking aero catch hood pins and tell the cop you forgot the keys at home they cant break the locks or that would be breaking and entering............. if they try to act like theyre going to impound it tell them you want to speak to the watch commander they usually will back off

 

Did not no that thanks! Not really bothered by cops anymore since I have a quieter ws2 exhaust but it really surprised me when he asked me to pop my hood...none of my other friends with hondas were asked that but than again I guess they only get pulled over by county popo.

 

likwid2u-- with or with out the keys they cant open your hood. they will have to go in your car to pop it, thats illegal right there.

i was told to pop my hood or hes going to do it, and he open my door i said if you put your hand in my car im going to sue the **** outta you. he shut the door, and i was released with a faliure to stop ticket.

 

im in law enforcement, and i swear if i had to drive my car in california id be cussin some cops out! F that man. i feel sorry for anyone that lives in CA.
