Hole in test pipe, want a reliable cat
I have done a little research on previous threads but not exactly what I'm looking for.
I have a 2000 gsr and my test pipe has developed a hole where the O2 sensor had a bung(crappy welding by previous owner/shop) and I have decided to go the route of a cat for emissions sake. Anyways I have jdm headers with 60mm piping exhaust and therefore i need a cat to go between them.
I took my car to a local exhaust shop and they want to charge me $3000, $1450 for the cat alone. I realize this is ludicrous. His reasoning for this is that the piping doesn't match up so he has to do a bunch of custom work to get it to fit. However, he says the labor is only $150. This doesn't add up to me. He doesn't want to use a cheap cat and his shop only uses nice ones or something of that nature.
Now could an oem integra cat(a little pricey but would hold up great) be welded on there?
So any thoughts?
My main goal is a reliable cat because I have to pass emissions soon.
Thanks for the help.

u can get a carsound cat for like 350 installed. u arent even in cali so you can get the cheaper/better cats for even less. the installation takes 5 minutes to weld. All he needs is a tube that converts the sizes.
