Broken Wheel Studs
I had 3 lug nuts on my wheel, cause 1 is stripped. Anyway somehow today 2 of the studs broke, leaving me one 1 good stud. I have to replace them tomorrow, but has anyone ever seen thsi happen? What coudl cause a wheel stud to snap off - I have always torqed them to 80 ft/lbs. Also how do I go about in replacing them? How involved is the replacement and how much would a shop charge if I was too lazy to do it myself?

usually they snap off due to being overtorqued, shitty lug nuts, or abuse. Youll have to remove the wheel, caliper, rotor, then separate the upper control arm as well as the lower and once you have everything separated take it to a shop that can press new studs in them, i recommend replacing all 4 while you're at it.
replacing a stud is not-so-fun. you have to take off your rotor.. and sorta the assembly behind it.. you'll basically have to press(ghetto: hammer).. the studs out. To put the studs back in.. you'll have to take it to a shop (Midas, muffler shop..etc).. that has a machine press. They can press it in for you.. (bout 5-10 bucks.. try to do it on the side.. and just slip the guy some cash)
What is involed in taking the hub (thats the thing that hold the 4 studs in and attaches the wheel bearing, right) off? Wiill I have to remove the whole knuckle or will it just slide off? Can everything aside from the presing of the studs be done with hand-tools or do I need anything special? Do I have to remove the lower and uppercontrols arm, and do I have to pull the ball joints for each?
