Default Recommendations for 96 Ex vtec

Hey all I'm just going to say up front that I'm a huge car noob which is why I'm here. Friend recommended your forums for research and recommendations... anyway my questions is if I'm wanting to start swapping parts out on my car basically just to improve life on the car and learn while I'm doing it what's best to start with? Keep in mind this will be both in terms of ease of work and improved life/gas mileage/performance in that order. I appreciate any recommendations you guys might have as well as just recommendations for the best ways to start learning more.

Thanks!

A easy first upgrade if you have never worked on a car before, I would say a intake would be a nice first project to get your hands dirty.

Tis a coupe. Ya I was considering intake/exhaust and I need to do rotors at some point too.. Any good brands or things I should be watching for?

As for an intake... AEM or Injen is my suggestion.
