B20 in CRX... Good Idea?
Hi guys,
I recently got a very good offer of a crashed DA integra that has a B20 with a VTEC head. It is being sold as a whole and the price is pretty decent. I am wondering if it will fit nicely in my CRX and what is a ballpark figure on the power output that I can get from this setup without going overboard on the $$$ input. I am also concerned on the weight distribution, at this moment the REX handles pretty good (D16Y8 engine, tokico illuminas, eibach pro-kit, ST sways bars) and I dont want to mess it up.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Take the torque of the stock b20 then times it by how many rpms the VTEC head is capable of then divide by 5250. That'll give you a ballpark power figure.
Weight issues shouldn't be a problem, it's not that much heavier. It'll fit just like a B series.

everything swap wise you can use for the rex (axles, motor, ecu) but you will need the mounts and shift linkage for "B to EF". my brothers b20vtec crx stock internal'd went 12.8

You can swap DA brakes but that will screw you caster a bit(there is a good page of compressing suspension in the faq) But it shouldnt matter much if your not to low, might steer a bit different.
You would need everything you would need to do any b-series swap.
I would recommend trying to get the ECU as well as the engine and hope that buddy had a good tune on it, or plan on tuning it immediately after installing.

So the only parts I need to source from an DA integra for the swap are the shift linkage, axels and the clutch cable? I sold the remainder of the integra and need to make sure I get everything that I require before the buyer takes the remainder of the donor car.
I appreciate the feedback

i dont think you can use the shift linkage. but you need the axles motor trans harness ecu.
then you just need to buy mounts for the rex and a b-series into a ef shift linkage and you should be good.

This is a terrible idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unless you want a fast dependable car...Like said before, all you need is some motor mounts and a custom linkage. Everything else from the DA is what you need. As for the front brakes, if you want the Integra sized front brakes you need the front knuckles from a 90-91 civic EX 4door.

The b20 in a crx is my personal favorite swap. Lots of torque, and revs out great with the vtec head. A very, very satisfying swap. Just as a side note, think about using innovative mounts, as they vibrate less than the others. Just did a b20 swap for a kid 2 weeks ago, and he is loving the torque, and stomps all over his b16a/b18c powered buddies cars. Be prepared to cut out some of the webbing from under the hood so the valve cover doesnt rub - its REALLY close on a b20/vtec in an EF.
Once youve done the swap, step up and turbo the b20/vtec and get ready to scare yourself. Its what I had in my crx this year, and man, just make sure you're pointed in the right direction before you hit the gas! No BS. Not many cars will touch it. Only problem is keeping it hooked up. 50+ mph rolling burnouts.......
