Hi so im looking at buying a new trans later today, and was wondering what would be something that i should watch out for, and how can i make sure that it is in good condition. i know that i should move the input shaft around to check for play.

also just to double check you can put a d16z6 trans on a d16y8 correct?
i know the z6 trans have al forks compaired to the steel forks in the y8's tran and 2nd gear is a bit shorter in the y8 but thats about all right?

 

check leaking seals
but other than that your on your own
put it in gear see if it spins the axle shaft splines
there really anything else you could do
its all luck
you could always end up buying junk
