Street Prepared back date/forward date clarification
since my whole season has gone to ****(damn rims) was going to jump to CSP for the rest of the season. i know for a fact i won't be competitive nationally but i need to at least get use out of my hooseir tires.
now for the back dating and forward dating rule. does this mean i can put a SOHC vtec engine in my car? since my car is a EX, does that mean i can put in a engine from a 95 EX? the rules state that as long as it's a straight drop in (no hammering or cutting) it would be legal?
this is just for the rest of the season. i will be jumping back in to stock class next year. the engine swap would just help me in the long run, I'll get a chance to rebuild the old D16a6.

I don't have my rulebook handy, and I hate PDFs, but are both cars listed on the same line in the appendix? If so, I believe that you can swap engines (and I believe it must be the complete engine) between them, but I've never really looked into it as I am in a class that doesn't allow updating / backdating.

so as long as it's in the same appendix i should be okay? damn, then i guess not. oh well.
i believe that in order for you to do this it had to be available in that body style. like if you had a DX you could swap in a D16a6.. sadly, you sir have a lot of parts that a lot of people would like to put on there DX's.. you don't have much room to play.
man, i really need to stop replying to your topics because you're just going to kill me.

you're telling me. i thought i had stock class all set up till you blew my bubble about the HX rims. now i gotta go and re read all the class rules for Street Prepared since i really don't have the money, or want to sell the HX's with the hoosiers.
stupid stock class rules

hang in there man. i've got a set of 14x5 steelies if you want to swap me for the HX's. hehee.
hey man, i'm just trying to help ya.

no you cant
you can only swap between chassis that are in the same line in the rulebook....
for example crx HF can use si parts update/backdate but it needs to have all si parts on the vehicle
you cant swap sohc vtec in your car cause it never came with vtec or its not listed in the same chassis line in the rulebook
i don tknow if i worded it right but the answer is no

yeah, you did. i knew about the whole changing the car over to an si and stuff. i was just hoping that i could go farther, but looking at the appendix, guess not.
I heard that the CSP 1st gen Miata folks are using year 2000 Miata engine. As long as the mounting location are the same then it should be legal.
In that case. Doesn't this mean you can use a B16A2 or B16A3.
In that case. Doesn't this mean you can use a B16A2 or B16A3.
that's cause the miata's are all pushed into this appendix. per say the rules as everyone is saying. you can back date/forward date the engine if the car is also in the same appendix.
im **** out of luck as my car is one of the top three models (crx si, civic si, civic ex).
Since I looked it up..
2009 SCCA rulebook CSP listings (pg172, or 184 in the PDF):
Honda
Civic 1500 (‘84-’87)
Civic (’88-’91)
CRX (’88-’91)
CRX 1500 (’84-’87)
So if you have a 90 Civic EX you can use any engine from this line: Civic (’88-’91)
..and I'm guessing the 90 EX has the best engine of the bunch, same as an Si, right?
