Default MSD into an 97 GSR. Need Help & Advice ??

Hey HT
Ive reaserched this for a while now and no good luck......
Im going to do a Cap and rotor change on one of these upcoming weeks and new Ngk Spark Plug wires to. (I already have new NGK spark plugs). My gas milege sucks right now wich leds me to tink i need a tune up on the ignition system.

Ok my main reason for posting this is to ask this. Since MSD sends a greater discharge in to the spark plugs, it would burn out all the gas and air mixture in the combustion chamber. (making me get better gas millege with the new rotor, cap and wires etc etc). Just mi understanding of how it works lol
Can some one tell me how it works..
Thanks

from what i've read about aftermarket ignitions, you shouldn't waste your money. get new oem plugs and wires if you think yours are worn, but don't get any of that aftermarket ignition crap. a bad o2 sensor or a dirty air filter could be causing bad gas mileage too; don't just assume it's because of the plugs or wires.

From personal experience, MSD does improve mileage. I was getting 35 mpg with I/H and full MSD. You'll need an ignition box, coil, cap, and wires. What makes you think that only your ignition system needs a tune up? You should do a full tune up before you start buying after market parts.

Don't even bother with any MSD ****, you'll only create more headaches.

Unless you're building some monster of an engine, stay with stock ignition.

Yeah i bought all new cap and rotor and new NGK wires today. And i noticed that my exhaust fumes smell not like regular exhaust fumes...they smell kinda funny, like a roten smell and its pising me of. I heard if it smels then it could be my Catalyk converter going out. Is this true....?

If the cat was bad then my o2 sensors would pick up something wrong and give me a check engine light. When i start up the car. The "maintanance Required" light flashes for about 5 seconds and churns of..? And no chek engine lights at all....?
I had the cat of about 1 month ago when i putt my test pipe in to see if it did anything and i could see light trough the cat. Right now the cat is back on . M car also burns oil in vtec. What could this mean. Bad or stuck oil rings or old valve guide seals or how ever u call them. Car has 124 k miles on it..?

i think the o2 can be giving bad readings without a cel; afaik the cel only turns on if the sensor is completely dead or close to it. the stock ignition system is pretty good and shouldn't be modded unless absolutely necessary.
