Default Block Assembly

Hey guys i have a jdm type r motor and was gonna refreshin the block up with new rings, bearings and thrust washers. Just curious do most of you guys go with the standard OEM bearings or like someone like ACL or so. Just want to get some heads up on what works best for those that have done it.
Im having white smoke at high rpms and im thinking it need new rings...The bottom end is completly stock by the way

I use oem bearings for a perfect fit...Aftermarket bearings may or may not get you the clearances you need or want...

ACL's are one size fits all for the most part. Honda bearings have color codes for different sizes. Just make sure you follow the book when you are checking which colors you will need and you'll do alright. I don't think ACLs are inferior mechanicly, they just don't offer the selection OEM does.... In case you were wondering.

oem bearings are $$ i usually buy acl's first, if they dont give me the clearances i like, then i calculate the thickness i need and go buy oem bearings.

You're probably going to have to go through a dealership or OEM parts site like majestic Honda. Autozone or similar stores are probably going to have no name parts which are usually one size fits all. Jdogg is right OEM bearings are expensive.

OEM R pricy, would i be doing better going to an autozone and picking up a set of new bearings from them?? They are considered an standard oem bearing when i called them. I would go with ACL but i hear alot of ppl telling that the clerance isnt too good. Im just looking to refreshen the block thats alll

As I said. The autozone bearings are the same deal as the ACL. The way you get the proper clearances is by selecting the proper thickness bearings. ACL and other bearings that don't offer a range of thicknesses don't allow you to do that. So what I am saying is going to autozone would be no better than buying the ACLs. Pull the block apart and follow the shop manual to find out what size bearings you will need. They are color coded. ACL is the same thickness as OEM green. So... If you need all green bearings ACL might be a good choice. But many times you need more than one color bearings.

I suggest oem honda. The block, crank and rods have all the information that you need to choose bearings. I suggest measuring as well to ensure the proper oil clearances.
