Water in engine... is tranny still good?
Someone filled my teg's engine (B18C1) with water. Obviously, the engine is now worthless. Is the tranny still good? Or is it also worthless? Also, what is the code for the tranny y80 or something like that?
why did they do that? Your transmission will still be good unless they filled that with water. Then the bearings may have gotten a little worn. The oil seal on the crank probably stopped water
Chances are the tranny's fine, like somebody posted earlier...unless they jacked it up, drained the tranny fluid, then put the plug back in, and opened the fill plug up and put water in it...which is very unlikely. Not to mention the rear main seal would have stopped water from getting into the clutch casing.
This is not as bad as a customer that I had come in, asked why his car started overheating immediately after he did a radiator flush. He had a 2004 Chevy Silverado, so it requires DexCool coolant which is a pink/orange color. Well, instead of asking someone at the automotive store for DexCool, he bought the first pink/red gallon of fluid he saw on the rack. Turns out he filled his radiator with Valvoline Maxlife motor oil.

haha... but I didn't fill My engine with anything but Mobil 1.
Where did you get water into your engine?
into the intake manifold?
Take plugs out and fill cylinder walls with water?
into oil?

"filled with water" A gallon or 2. When I drained it it overflowed from my oil pan. All I wanted to know was whether that water could enter the tranny. Sounds like it can't.
thats just odd...i agree its literally impossible for anything to had gotten into the trans. the motor and trans have no fluid exchange plus you have several heavy duty seals, flywheel ,clutch and input shaft seal(or flexplate, torque converter if its auto) .you sure the headgasket DIDNT blow?! check the antifreeze level.
I want to know how someone filled his engine with water. Pour it all down the oil fill cap? How did they pop your hood? Do you not lock your doors? Do you give copies of your car key away?
Car was on blocks in my driveway after an accident. Door/window smashed and could access hood lever. Could get into the engine bay easily. So if the bearings are good the engine is good? That significant amount of H20 won't oxidize the camshafts and everything else. And the headgasket was fine before this.
gotta get technical here. if they truly FILLED the motor with water then oxidation wont grow rampid til drained and if you had cranked the motor then the build up of pressure will try to relieve itself through the weakest point which could be through the headgasket if it has the slightest bit of warp. but i guess it would much easier go through the spark plug ports or any other gasket.
its one of those no choice take it apart and see i had found one of my projects in a open field when the shop i had it at screwed me over exposed engine no exhaust but had manifolds outside for 4 months during the summer and was oxidized near the open ports primarily no deep damage though it already had wiped bearings it was caused by the rain.
