Yeah I saw that King charges 1750 for a short block rebuild and 3500 for a long block rebuild. That is only for the labor. Parts are extra.

Anybody know how much RC Autoworks charges?

I think I understand why there are so many people doing JDM engine swaps.

I might as well do a swap with a JDM B18C GSR engine for about the same cost.

what are you looking to get done? one of the best builders in the midwest is ERL. when we're shooting for big power, this is where we go for sleeving.

you don't necessary need to get sleeved, they machine and build them as well.

www.erlperformance.com

we build engines as well and for machine work, we use apex auto engineering. these guys do all the machining and if you want them to assemble your motor as well, they do great work. check them out here:

Thank you for replying. That is really useful information.

My engine burns oil. All I want is a standard factory type rebuild.

If I have enough money I would go for some forged pistons in case I decide to add a turbo later.

I need to replace my timing belt and water pump anyway, so I was thinking about getting my engine rebuilt at the same time.

The other two engine shops i can think of would be borchardts speed shop in greenfield, or Don's auto in kenosha. Ive seen alot of 4 cylinders at borchards so im sure theyre familiar with them. Their prices are also pretty reasonable. I havent seen any 4 cylinders at dons though, so im not sure about them. We had them rebuild our amc 390 the second time around and they did a great job.

Unless things have changed in the last couple years... they're not good with 4 cylinders. I went there two years ago to tune my car, and ended up running the machine pretty much by myself. The guys there had no idea what K-Pro did. They're accustomed to carburetors and muscle cars there.
