Default Who's got the recipe?

I know I'm new on here, but I don't want to know what to do, but I want the combo to do it, I want turbo! I want DOHC, I WANT 400 streetable HP, while I got the A/C on, And why should I go through all the pain and suffering, when I know you guys have the correct combo's to do it. I have a 95 Del Sol Si SOHC. If you know what I need let me know, I have nothing to start with, If you give me info, don't be partial, I want complete builds you need this this and this and this type stuff, I will choose the combo that the most people seem to agree on and that's the engine I'm gonna build. Thanks in advance for any and all input, as I know this will invole quite a bit of your time.

There are infinite number of combinations to get what you're doing. Unfortunately many here will not post that type of information on this thread simply because there are literally thousands of these setups on this forum , so you'll need to look around a bit.

You also failed to state a BUDGET; what you have and plan to spend on such a setup with the engine you have or another one. Going DOHC & Turbo is major bucks (over 6 thousand if you do it yourself--and I'm being conservative), so you need to state your mechanical ability and understanding of Honda engines is a plus, though not a requirement.

We can't read minds but we are willing to help if you HELP US TO HELP YOU, by showing examples of what you're looking for the way you look for it. Becareful of those easily willing to make suggestions of parts but give no reason as to WHY IT WORKS, or IF IT WORKS FOR YOU. Its amazing as to how many people are willing to spend your money for you, without regards to your needs.

Take care, good luck.

It's not impossible to get there many ways... you could start by buying my car... oh wait, no A/C.

For what you want, B18C + sleeves + GT30 turbo + very $$ manifold /exhaust work (for keeping a/c and ps) + ecu/fuel pump/injectors/3 bar map and tuning + diff + clutch + axles... then all you need to do is put it together.

Locash is on point... and $6k is s little low for doing everything right the first time...

I want to get there by the easiest parts to locate and aqquire, I can't say there is no limits on budget, but I am willing to spend what is needed, for quality parts. And that is why I am here to find out what I need and the parts that are obtainable. I know there are many roads, but which one is the easiest to aqquire? My mechanical skills are pretty good, I can follow directions, just not good at the figure it out part.

So you want a built car but you don't want to put any effort into it?

Try the Vehicles for Sale forum...

If you are too lazy to read around a forum how are you gonna muster up the motivation to do a swap, turbo install or even just tow a car to your local Tuner shop?

No this is not the issue, I want my del sol and I want to do it, I just want to the do the right combo, and I have been reading, but there is so much info here, it is truely overwhelming, and I'm ready to get started, I am new to the honda world, but not the mechanical world. I just don't want to waste alot of time trying to get the power out of the wrong combo, and that's all I'm asking for.

stay SOHC and use the vitara and custom rod setup with a t3/t4 57 trim and be done with it. cheaper than swaping engines and will make all the power you want and then some..

I don't think the sohc is gonna give me what I want, I want 400 to the wheels and I think that would just be asking to much out of the sohc, plus everything around the sohc will stay broke, so this much I have figured out, I need a b series, parts are easily available.
So I need a b18c block or will any b series block work, now which head and what do I need to have done to the block.

trust me you dont need a b-series to make that power.. the vitara piston custom rod setup will make that power all day, with no issues. go to the SOHC thread in here and take a look, plenty of 400hp setups there.. Me personally i am shooting for over 550hp with my new setup also on a SOHC.

No. you need to point US in the direction that you want. For example, you saying that the SOHC will not deliver the power that you want, you never stated the fact that building a SOHC is what you didn't want to do.

You must understand that there are more ways than one to reach this power, but you have to guide US as to your budget, goals, needs and such. You'll get too many directions given to you when you get vague like that.

Locash gave one approach, ONE. There are tons of others. Look to your budget and use their suggestion as a basis for a decision. Not the rule.

I'm learning as I go, I thought a SOHC wouldn't do what wanted, but the more I read the SOHC thread, I'm not so sure, I want a streetable daily driver, that me and the wife can jump in a go the beach and if on the way a mustang or a 350z decides to play I can blow thier freakin doors off. parts availabilty is important, inital budget is not so much limited, but I don't have to have the top of the line brand name stuff, I want what will work. I'm starting to look really hard at the sohc as parts are readily available and I don't have to spend the extra money on the mounts and stuff. This thread has helped me look at more options. And I thank everyone for thier time.

Im honestly surprised you've had such good response to your question. Many, many times people post a thread " how do i make xxxHP "and get directed to the SEARCH button within the first 2 or 3 posts. I think because a lot of guys have had to look and learn them selves.

To help with your question, many different set-ups will get you to your 400hp goal as stated. But in differing ways. Some will spool faster than others, and some will obviously cost more than others. We can help point you in the correct direction. You have to take it from there and SEARCH to find out what will work best for your needs/wants.

First of all I would like to thank everyone for not just coming out and flaming my ***, I've been lurking on here for about three weeks, before ever saying anything, and I think I had so much input I almost had a short circuit, And I think I NEEDED SOME DIRECTION, sometimes you know something and you just need someone else to say it back to you, I had convinced myself that I needed a DOHC, so I never even looked at that thread, but after it was mentioned, I think maybe I can get what I want out of sohc, so Ive put out word to a couple of friends this afternoon, and they are looking for me d16z engine that I can start on. And I've been reading the sohc thread almost all day, once again thanks guys.

dude, you have probably invested more time in creating this thread, checking the posts, re-posting responses, than it would have required to print off 4-5 complete threads of builds in here that are detailed, step by step,, ect as well as of spent that time reading them and moving forward with your goals here. Part of this site is a resource to guys that are passionate about doing things themself. If that is what you want then take a few moments and actually READ a thread in here before asking everyone to blurt out something in a small *** reply box here.

The sohc will certiantly get you there, probably the most cost effective and efficient/easy way for you, but if money is not an issue, id suggest moving to a platform that would have more growing room for your power goals. B-series mounts are dirt cheap for that chasis.

I think I'm gonna go for the sohc, for learning more about the turbo and how it works and then as my skills improve, I may find a b series and put it on the stand.
