so, at the last race, we had a circlip fail on the outboard passenger axle bearing, causing the axle shaft to slip in and out of the bearing splines, instead of staying located and letting the CV joint slip as it was designed to. Needless to say, the splines on the shaft are obliterated, but everything else seems to be in perfect working condition (including the inner bearing splines on the outer bearing joint.) I hate to throw away an entire axle just because a portion of the shaft is damaged. Other than the junkyard (not many around here), or Honda or Raxles (won't sell just the shaft, only a complete axle, pretty pricey), anyone know of a source for just axle shafts?

Swap the entire thing out and call it a day. Autozone axles are inexpensive and come with a lifetime warranty. Swap them out after every race if you wish.
We bought Raxles........A tad bit spendy, but they have real thick beefy rubber boots and just the right amount of synthetic grease (not too much!). So far so good on our track only civic hatch. Call Marty? at Raxles in FL. Good Luck.

I had raxles on my old turbo car, they're great axles - super high quality! Currently though i just rock autozone axles, even if you get two sets they're still stupid cheap and like somebody else said above lifetime warranty!
We did that, but swapping axles frequently due to pin size holes in the boots got old fast. Not to mention the grease splatter in the engine bay and on the racing surface. The Raxles boots are THICK, like the price.
I've heard great things about Marty's customer service at Raxles, especially for the track guys, and have heard nothing but incredible things about their products. The price (while high) seems entirely justified.
70$ No core chage.
But the clamps on the boots are not that great. I blew one up a couple weeks ago because all the grease spun out. The boot is fine, but the clamp loosened up and the grease splattered out. Bought a second one and by the end of the day I had grease all over the inside of my wheel again.

I put two raxles axles in my car in 2001, I tore the boot in one in 05 and replaced it with another raxles axle. The other side axle finally gave it up at hyperfest 08 on saturday, so I ran to advance and got one of their lifetime axles. I replaced it three times in one year bc of vibration, the last one had five race weekends on it when it died at hyperfest 09.
I went ahead and ordered another pair of raxles and have them on the car now. While changing the axle is an easy 30 min job, loosing the race bc of cheap parts sucks.
Hrmm, never heard of Insane shafts before.
I've had great luck running car-quest rebuilds however. I've used them in at least 5 different builds, and all of them have worked great.

INSANE SHAFTS!!!!!!!!! ........... Can't beat em!
So good we have included them as part of the GEAR-X line of Precision Drive Line Components.

Kiwi - are they on the website?
What does Insane Shafts do differently to each component? Type of metal? Surface treatment? Grease, boot rubber, etc.?

I agree 100%

One of the many tasks I mean to complete this Holiday Weekend is to get the GEAR-X Page on my website updated to include our GEAR-X/ Insane Shafts and as much information as I can.
I have been using Insane Shafts for some time now, and I can't fault them. And I think I've tried my fair share of axels. I doubt you will find better value for your $$
