HOW to rebuild a alternator???
I have a 93 Honda Accord and recently the battery light comes on while driving, the alternator is going out. What parts are needed to rebuild it and how is it done??
THANKS!!!
THANKS!!!
helms manual would probably help out a lot. if it were me, id grab an alternator from a junkyard and swap that out for parts, probably cheaper way to go about it, not sure what good percentage junk yard alternators are, unless they can check it for you first.
I change mine like a month ago....
-i just get a used one on a junkyard for $40.....my car is a 90accord and a get it from a 91.
it was i little bit bigger but a just swap it out and put togheter into the old one!
It works real good except that the battery light still On.

hey. I think that your battery is losing it charge, you might just need a new battery in stead try to trouble your self with rebuilding the alternator and If you still think its the alternator is the issue the other guy meant changing or replace the whole alternator or get a new one. good luck
Honestly, it's a much better idea to have a local alternator/generator shop rebuild it for you. It won't be too much more than if you bought the parts, and they know what they are doing. I had mine done for around $100 and it is like getting a brand new OEM alternator.
well if hawkze is right about the price to get it rebuild then that's one way of doing it or like I said just either pay for a new one that might cost you little bit more then $100 or just pull one from the junkyard near you. good luck.

I could have sworn that P_Adams (????) did a complete DIY tear down and rebuild thread for an alt here on H-T.
It went into the cost for each part and what quality parts to get for DIY vs the crap parts that 90% of the rebuilders use to cut costs. Meaning that they use generic parts to make more money off the rebuild. He went into saying how the parts that are put into refabed alts are cheap and that it's better to DIY and get the good parts.
Anyone know what happened to that thread? It was posted prior to the sell out too vBulletin® Version 3.7.4 and I lost all of my saved threads. That was one that I saved instantly. It was an awesome technical thread.
