My friend is supposed to buy an OEM style (w/o the washer nozzles -- for a clean look) Fiber Images c/f hood tommorrow from a friend of his who owns a shop. I am thinking $600 is kind of steep. Anywhere online that sell Fiber Images hoods? Are these hoods good quality in terms of fitting like OEM?

b4 you check out fiber images I would also look into VIS they make a supperior product for the same amount of money

i am so tired of the battle between VIS and fiber images...i mean can you really go wrong with either? I mean at http://www.mmrusa.com theres some video of some dude jumping on the fiber images...call both companies and get weights and facts and information and compare. Talk to people who have the hood and go to shows to find out which fit is better. I am personally going for the FI hood for my 95 ej. Is $600 shipped? B/C that isn't TERRIBLE...ive seen cheaper but your talking like 100-50 bucks roughly...unless you know someone. I don't know much about group buy but check that out as well.

 

Yes, $600 seems pretty steep for a F.I. hood, unless the amount covers shipping. I thought JHP's sold them for $350 picked up, maybe that's their own off brand.

I've owned two ViS hoods and haven't experienced a problem with either, rounded edges, perfect fit. I owned both hoods for over 3 months and never used pins. On the other hand the F.I. hoods I've seen didn't look that great. The edges were rough and straight, the hood didn't fit properly and overall looked poorly crafted. Maybe I just witness a few "bad apples" from Fiber Images. Now as far as the strength of the two hoods, I'm not exactly sure which one is stronger. But the ViS hood appears to weight a tad more and seems to be more stable.

If your friend is still interested in a ViS hood and lives in California, I should be able to help him out.

i have a FI hood and it is amazing. fitment, quality, weight all in one, but it has the hefty price tag. i dont regret it at all. i went through motivational engineering, which is one of FI official distributors in the U.S. i got it for 575.00 shipped, and it took about 2 wks because FI had to make the hood.

also, FI does not stock hoods. they make them as they get orders in, so when you get your hood depends on how many orders are before you. there were 7 before me and i got mine in two wks. its a great company and a great hood. i highly recommend FI products.
