they go bad when the boots split open and dirt gets inside and ruins the bearings in there.

if they were replaced be el-cheapo remanufactured axle, they are clicking because you got bad ones that were re-booted.

slamming the car will also lead to CV joints going bad.

Most people never think to check their boots, so they ride around for a long time with them being torn and not knowing it, by the time they notice, its click city.

The grease inside the boot(s) starts eating away at the rubber... Making it hard and brittle, thats why they start tearing in time. There is not really anything you can do about it either.... Except keep an eye on them, and re-palcing the boot(s) when needed. However, that will probably end-up costing you more in time and labor, rather just then replacing the axles as a unit... hehehe

hes right
no matter what, the boots get all brittle and they brake no matter what.... they get old and weather and use just brakes them... they are always going to break...... just go to pepboys and get a set of new CV joints, like 140 ea, with lifetime warranty, and a nytime they brake , take it and ull have new ones... thats what i did!>>.

Just take a small V shaped file and file the splines. They'll fit fine.
