Default How do I get my dimmer to work?

So I have a 2000 Civic EX with an aftermarket JVC deck. I used a crutchfield wiring harness and connected all the wires but my deck will not dim when I turn the lights on.

Does the Civic not have a wire for this? I think I connected the orange wire from the JVC harness to the orange one on the crutchfield one. I think there was also an illumination (orange/white?) wire that I left empty.

Anything I can do to get this to work?

I think most decks have dimmer off by default, you may have to turn it on.

Try holding down SEL for 3 seconds and going through the options until you find dimmer, then turn it on.

An illumination wire is hot when the lights are turned on. This is what the headunit uses to know when to dim the display. Sounds like that wire needs to be connected.

If you used the orange wire and it didn't work, use the orange white.
