so i have a 99 gsr with a b18c1 head and a b20z block, it was running the stock ecu for a bit and i knew it needed to be changed and tuned, it started messing up some so i bought a p28 offline and it was already street tuned when sent to me, it ran ok at first but know its starting to heat up outside. when i hit high rpms i can see some smoke coming out the back, also, it idles very very low at about 200-300 rpms and sometimes it even dies. when i crank it on sometimes i have to push the gas just to give it that jump to turn on, and sometimes when its first turned on i have to give it gas so it wont die and some smoke comes out then to..before it needed to be tuned it had no smoke or problems. help me please, do i need to take it and have it specifically dyno tuned or what? thanks, please reply
i dont no if ur issue was like mines but when i would turn my car on and drive. everytime i put it into neutral it would shut off and roll to a stop then i have to turn it on again and the same thing happened and it happened to be my distibutor so hope that helps maybe ur problem is differnet

why would you run with someone else's tuned ecu for a different motor? every motor is different so your best luck is too just get it tuned before you **** your motor
black smoke means it is running rich...check your spark plugs to make sure they are not fouled and you really need to get the ecu tuned for your car but you might be able to fix the idle problem with the adjustment screw on top of your throttle body
There's a reason the manual says to never adjust the idle screw...
sorry i forgot that the manual says to build a B20 vtech maybe the car that was tuned had a different voltage being put out by the TPS sensor but what do i know i just have a 378 hp turbo GSR on pump gas and stock internals(I am not new to the Honda game just new to this website). Go to TAMPARACING.com and post it there. There are several real tuners there that will be able to answer your question...You can get a response from ALPHA, JAP DAN,or John Vega(phereable.net) they all tune cars every day. But I would adjust the screw on the TB. I dont know why your worried about a manual IT IS NOT A FACTORY ENGINE!
To the OP, you NEED to get it tuned by a professional if you want your car to run smoothly. The basemap you have obviously isn't for your setup and adjusting the screw on top of the tb will not change fuel delivery or help your car as dantamparacer the obvious guru has said.
