what are you suggestions for me to do for very poor paint work at a shop
sorry about the long post but pls read it and help me out. thanks. especially those who owns paint shops
ok finally got my car back 1993 honda civic hatchback. when i took it to the shop the guy told me it was going to take him 1.5-2 weeks to paint the car with some little body work. will it took him 3 and a half weeks. i visited the shop every 3-4 days and i see my car body work already done after like 1.5 weeks but car was never painted until i told him i needed my car this weekend. he told me he will get the car painted so it was like 2 days for him to paint the car (which he rushed). when everything was done and i was called to pick up the car my car was total crap. he told me to bring the car home and bring it back in 1 week so the clear will settle and harden and he can fix some of the flaws (hella lot). by the way the car is painted alpine white from the new bmw so i dont know if white is hard to paint or what ever. i paid them $1,500 to get my car painted i know its not a whole lot of money but with this economic crisis throwing $1,500 to paint a car out of pocket really put a huge hole in my wallet.
flaws on the car:
*hella drip marks (paint runs or clear coat runs)
*alot of orange peels (rough paint not smooth at all)
*alot of specs of dirt on the paint or clear coat
*very badly prepped or taped off before car was painted cuz alot of my weather strip got painted on.
*seems like they messed with my interior like putting wrong screws for my doors, mud guards, alot of loose parts, broken molding tabs which they told me i have to replace myself!
goods on the car*
only good thing is the body is flawless now no dents and everything is straight.
***what do you suggest i do when i bring the car back? from the results i see it seems like the only way to get this solved is to repaint the WHOLE car cuz his excuse was that a new painter he hired was the one who painted my car and said himself that it turned out pretty good which is complete crap!

you can have it wetsanded and buffed and see how it looks. If its still crappy then tell them to redo it or you will go to the magistrate

as far as fixing it all that can be done is wet sanding it... but as far as going after the shop to fix it.. it doesnt look good... from what i hear about these situations, once you accept the car back into your possession, there isnt much you can do...
is there anyway i can get my money back if i am not satisfied? if they refuse to get it repainted. the thing is i have not even drove my car anywhere since i got it home. its been sitting in the garage only. i am very unsatisfy with the work
Wetsanding will correct a considerable amount of the flaws you listed. If it continues to suck ***** after they do that, then file complaints with the BBB, (better business bureau) and tell the shop something like "You have 7 days to fix my car to standard or I will be presenting a lawsuit against you." You could also stand outside their shop with a sign that says "this shop sux" or "Don't go to this shop bad quality" to **** them off and make then do it right to get you off the street in front of their shop. The right to protest. There's a lot you can do. Let them wetsand and buff first though.
Also, you can scrap some paint off of the mouldings with a razor blade.

sounds like mickey mouse painted your car
if he said he'll fix wats wrong with it (which better be for free) see how you like it
but i dont think 1500 will give you a show car finish.

it only takes a good one day to paitn a whole car. i think this guy is a joke for taking two days and still rush it.
bring the car back in a week and let him fix it. before i started doing paint jobs i used to criticize a lot of paint jobs. from orange peel, to waves, to little spots this missed when cutting and buffing and the list goes on. now that i do paint jobs, i have a lot more respect to people that do body work. $1500 is nothing for a complete paint job with body work. you rushing things didn't help neither. when painting white, you can barely see the reflection so you dont know how much clear is going on, some people rush and get it dry which creates orange peel because they dont want to run the clear. Some will stay too long and run the clear at some spots because they cant see the clear going on the panel itself. dirt is almost impossible to prevent, cutting and buffing will fix that. orange peel is also hard to prevent unless you're a bad *** painter. but then agian cutting and buffing will fix that. drips is another thing thats hard to prevent, especially when painting white. but u guessed it right. its correctable with cutting and buffing. let the paint cure, then take it back. if he doesnt fix it then you can complain to him. but he should be able to take care of it no problem.
i dont expect a car show qualiy cuz i do know i only paid 1500 for the paint job. i do know that the paint job totally suck *** tho. seems to me like the person above this statement is very true. white is a hard color to paint. i will try to let him fix the parts i dont like.
Yeah screw that man. I just dropped my car off for body work and paint the other day and im only payin $1900 for all the body work, with sikkens milano red base/clear with door jambs and hatch jambs included. Cut/buff included in the price as well. Guy does it on the side and does extremely good work, all the car's hes done that ive seen have been virtually flawless. I'd be raising hell if i were you.
