Default B18c5 to 2.0L Advice Needed

I have a B18c5 with a fully built head but on stock bottom block... i was thinking about boring it out to 2.0L but i need some advice on what pistons, Crank, and Rods to use... will i have enough clearence... i don't want compression to high.. maybe like 11.5-8:1... Or should i just go with the b20 bottom end and b20 vtec it. I wanna use the one that will make more whp/torque. But i'm really interested in boring out the b18c5.. and let me know anything else i might need on boring my b18c5 to 2.0L.

You should just bore. Seems safer than using a non vtec block. I's sure you can use your stock crank and rods, but double check.

get RS machine pistons

If your going 2.0L, get the 84mm piston size. The flat RS ones are the ITR copy. They will give you about 10.8:1 compression. The dome ones should get you in the mid 11.

You can't just bore a B18C5 block to 84mm, it will need to be sleeved first which will run about $1000; so, if you just want a 2.0l and are on some sort of budget, a B20 block will get you there cheaper.

I was in your shoes a couple months ago. I decided to get a sleeved b18c block to 84mm with ls crank, k1 carillo rods, and 11:1 je pistons and mount it to my built head. you definitely cant bore ur stock block to 84mm. I recommend sending it off to have it sleeved and built for you. pm me if you have any other questions

Unless you are going to add some compression and larger camshafts (maybe you have them already) personally I don't see all of the effort being worth it. I'd suggest around 12:1 on static compression, 84mm bore, LS crank, a good set of rods, and OEM bearings. You'll also need a good header if you want to maximize output.
