Default no vtec?

i got a 94 eg coupe with a gsr in it. ever since my ground going from the valve cover was disconnected and reconnected, vtec doesnt feel as tho it pulls as hard. like i can definately hear it crossover at 4400 and pull until about 6500-7000 but then it doesnt seem to go as hard as it used to. i notice this mostly in first and second gear. third feels the same. any ideas? maybe im just gettin used to the car and it doesnt feel as quick anymore. btw i have an ls trans :/

What's your oil pressure and oil level at? Maybe you have a small leak at the o-ring on at the middle cam cap.
It's probably all in your head though

my oil pan is practically full... about 3.75-4 quarts, and pretty much all the gaskets r replaced on the head and i know i dont have any leaks. i mean it crosses over and i can feel it at first but it just doesnt feel like it wants to go all the way to to 8200.and i know if i didnt have any oil or low oil pressure, vtec wouldnt even engage so i know its not those.

ok guys, im getting really frustrated with this. as i said i took it to my mechanic and he said everything is fine but im willing to think otherwise. now recently its throwing code 23 (knock sensor) and i recently replaced it so i think its my shitty wiring job, but would that affect it pulling vtec? i can definately hear it at 4400 and sometimes it pulls good until the cel light comes on, then once its on it seems to have the sound of vtec but not the performance i noticed before. also i can sometimes hear the secondaries open and then other times i cant. so a quick question, how can i tell if they are opening and if they are not how do i fix that? btw i wanna upgrade to a skunk2 pro-series but moneys tight right now and i am forced to keep the stock mani.

fix the knock sensor code (replace the sensor) and see if that helps. my knock sensor broke and my car lost power in weird ways... if it's broken it messes with your timing (retards it).

those damn sensors are just little microphones that love to break.

I'm just gonna re-wire it to see if that fixes it but if not I'm gonna prolly just get my ecu chipped to disable knock bc u don't know how big of a bitch it is to get back there with that damn butterfly intake manifold

Try doing a decent tuneup., plugs/cap/rotor, oil and trans fluid exchange, run some injector cleaner thru at about half tank, get some intake manifold cleaner (better known as carb/choke cleaner) and run a tad of that into your manifold, change or clean your air filter, and check the condition of your Primary 02, maybe even wipe it clean with a small amount of brake cleaner if you have to. See if doing all that makes a bit of a difference.
