Vtec kicking in and out on a fresh ls/vtec build
Just built an Ls/Vtec setup for a friend. Car starts and runs very well. It has no leaks nor other issues besides this.
Most of the time, vtec will kick in at the specified setting but does not stay engaged. It will last maybe 1000rpm or so then cut out, or maybe last all of first gear but then not work at all in second gear. The wiring is not the issue as that has been throughly checked over. The oil level is perfect and is checked very often.
While data logging in hondata, the map switches over to the high cam every time and stays engaged.
I'm assuming this is an issue with oil pressure as of now, but I'm looking for some advice on other issues some people may have had. Maybe timing or a clogged vtec solenoid gasket? I'm just looking for some other small things, that could be checked out before i find the time to pull off the oil pan and peek at the pickup. Any help

i had the same issuse once. and it was an oil pressure prob. i have always used a vtec oil pump for the extra pressure, but i ended up doing to fix my problem is running smaller feed line to the head. i had a -6 line on it and went down to a -4. good luck
