Default Transmission problem?

alright, well it started a couple days ago when i noticed an oil spot on the driveway..

first off its a 99' Integra GS' Stock motor/trans

i just checked the oil and it was about a qt. low and i can't exactly tell where the oil leak is coming from, well i put oil in it and ran it for a couple minutes, it hesitated to start big time! like it was lacking compression.. after about 30 seconds of me cranking it and it trying to turn over it finally, hesitantly fired up idled high for a few seconds like normal then sat at 900-1000..

so i check the oil after running it after a couple minutes, let it cool off a couple minutes, and i try to take it for a spin, well.. now it won't go in gear, like the clutch went out!? im a little confused, maybe i cracked my tranny case on something, and the lack of lubrication in the transmission case is making it very hard to put it in gear?? ive had a clutch go out before, its impossible to get in gear, this one will go in gear when the car is off?? but when i turn it on and try to put it in gear *with clutch engaged* the car tries to move.. like im letting off the clutch, but my foots all the way down on the clutch and its still not going fully into gear? any ideas, or things i could check? i'll be checking this post often, please and thank you for any advice.

I've had a somewhat similar problem with my 2001 GSR. Turns out I had a leak it my clutch line. I had to put more brake line oil in my clutch reservoir and replace a gasket within the firewall. It might be a leak in your clutch line. I'm only guessing since I'm new at it. Just check your reservoir and see if it's low, if it is I'm sure that's the problem.

Yep check your clutch lines and your tranny fluids. As for it goin into gear while the car is off is most likley your clutch or pressure plate. Only way to know that is to take off the tranny. If its not any of those it could be ur throw out bearing but like i said u got to take the tranny out to see.

alright.. checking fluids, and my clutch master is VERY squeaky! like its starving for some lubrication!

also if i am to change out my transmission fluid would 5w30 castrol work, non-synthetic?

The problem is definitely the clutch hydraulic system. The clutch is not disengaging fully when the pedal is depressed (clutch engaged is when you're not touching the pedal).

5w30 conventional is okay in a pinch in the transmission, but you really should get something like Honda MTF in there.
