Default decent price for parts installed?

I needed some work done to my DA and got quoted $350 from a friend of a friend to do it. He is a certified mechanic but would be doing the work in his own garage. For $350 it would include:

-2 axles installed
-master cylinder installed
-alternator installed
-new brake pads/rotors installed on all 4 corners
-SS brake lines installed
-fluid flush

So is this a decent price for everything I need done? He isn't my friend so I don't expect any awesome deals or anything, just looking to save some cash over having a shop do it while still having a qualified person handling it.

that is a good deal but would be better if you did it yourself all those are way to easy to do if you knew how.

Yeah, I know I really need to be doing this stuff myself. Thing is my mechanical abilites are limited and it's my only car, so I can't afford to screw up stuff. I'd be more willing to try this stuff myself if I had another car.

So those prices aren't bad then? I have no idea what a shop would charge for labor on those parts, that's why I was wondering. I know he does good work, just wanted to make sure I was saving a decent amount over having a shop do it. Otherwise I might as well have a shop do it.

around my area
a shop would charge 80-90 per axel
rotor/pads if you buy them 35 per side installed.
everything else is up to them.
personally id do the brake stuff myself since its really simple. but thats up to u.

that's in the ballpark, i would probably do that for the same, maybe 300 if a guy came at me with an offer. a shop would average 75/hr on book time and there is more than 4hrs of book work listed. if the guy is a real shop tech and just doing it on the side, any way you stack it, you're saving money.

A decent price would be what you would expect someone to pay you to do the same work.

Just do it yourself thats a good price but everything is really simple. I mean to replace the Alt you have to take the axle out anyway and brakes are easy as can be. The axles are only one bolt +3 for the other in the back of the block. If you PM me i can e-mail the PDF i have on DA's that tell you have to do everything there is to know about that car and its step by step and if you do it yourself you teach yourself how to work on you car with is always a +.
