Default bolt on/ebay turbo kits?

Anyone know if those so called 'bolt on' ebay turbo kits are any good? I wouldn't go for the cheap ones, I mean the ones like the turbonetics kits... here...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDMS-...Q5fAccessories

I was looking for one that i could stick on without any welding. I admit, i'm a stupid kid, and i don't have a welder. :D

I was just curious if ebay kits were worth crap. I can get my own injectors and ecu, but i didn't want to bother getting each individual part if i could get away with it.

For one, IMO don't buy from someone with a lower feedback than 99%. 2, most of the parts are junk, but I personally would use the FMIC, piping, and BOV. I MAY use the turbo, aslong as it's running low boost (6-8psi) and have a restrictor for the oil. I ran an ebay turbo on my Old EK and it didn't ever have problems, and spooled decent. Ebay cast manifolds are pretty decent as well.

Purchase a Tial 38mm, injectors, and tune that sucker.

For that price, you could piece together a really nice kit.

That looks like any other run of the mill, cheaply manufactured stuff. Products like that go though no quality control, which is why some people have luck with them, and some people don't.

It'd be wise to spend your money on a tried and true product, there's no reason you need to take a gamble on getting a decent part or not.

ebay kits and bolt on do not go hand in hand.

they find part A From MFG A and part B from Manufactor B

and say .. " this looks like itll work! lets sell it as a kit!"

once you get it, youll find you got a bunch of **** that does not match and will need fitting and welding.

look in the ls/t thread. there are tons of people running ebay turbo's with no issues at all. and putting down some very good numbers. i have a garrett t3 ar .60, and i'm considering going with an ebay turbo after reading some of the glory stories in there. as for a manifold, i would only use the cast iron, the stainless ones tend to fall apart fairly easily.

The most common problem with the cheap stuff is their poor quality materials and welds, shown here:

And also, there poorly engineered designs, shown here:

If this looks like something you don't mind dealing with, by all means, go for it.
