im agreeing with the people that told you that its not a very strong motor. Maybe if you got it resleeved then it would be a better motor to put boost to but i think it would just be easier and less expensive to swap in a b-series motor (i think an ls sawp would be the cheapest) and then boost that.

i live in western pa and my cousin got an ls swap with tranny for 1500 last year but its probably going to be more now since the enconomy is crazy. You could piece one together for less and just buy every thing individually.

Honestly, the d-series bottom ends are pretty strong, i had a stock bottom end with just some head goodies at 300hp. i drove the car every day, and also drove it from virginia to florida, took a nap, then drove it to san antonio texas.

The car was awesome.

btw i was at 1bar and it was also tuned quarterly

Freshen up the bottom end, add some YCP Vitara pistons & FJDistributors custom length rods. Piece together your own turbo kit, get a good engine management system, and get the car tuned. If you shop around for parts, you can do it all for as much or even less than a B-series VTEC engine (B16A, B18C1, B18C5) swap. On top of that, you'll have quite a bit more power.

+1 boost the D! you can get 300+ with aboult $600 with YCP rods and pistons for the bottem end and then 2k for a homemade turbo kit.

bump on the freshing up. i had a buddy turbo his y8 and it had horrible blow by so the crank case pressure shot through the roof therefore not letting the oil in the turbo back in the oil pan add it was blowing out the turbo at an alarming rate which was kinda comical
