new with turbo's what size should i be looking at?
I am not necessarily new to turbo's but still don't understand what the size's of the intake and exhaust determine. Does the intake side determine amount of boost and exhaust determine spool time? Anyways i am looking for your help to determine which size i should run.
My setup is
stock sleeved gsr block with eagle rods and cp pistons stock bore
b16 stock head itr cams and valvetrain
full race ramhorn manifold
tial 44 wastegate
either an itr mani or victor x still haven't purchased
3 inch dp and exhaust
still haven't purchased injectors but assume 1000cc ???
So what size turbo should i be looking at a .57 or .60 trim that produces max power around 500 -550? I am looking at garrets and there is the gt3076r, the t3/60-1, precision's sc61 and the sc60 ect. what's the difference between these?

GT3076R is a goo choice but will start to get tired at 550whp, you may want to consider something slightly larger like a GT35R with a .63 housing. Or even a BW S256 or S258. The turbo's in power capability in order for you to consider are:
-GT3076R
-S256
-S258
-GT35R
-GT3076R
-S256
-S258
-GT35R
alright thanks for the input guys your right i def wanna get a bigger turbo so i can expand once i build my ls have it sleeved ect. So now who has the best deals on turbo's lol i can't find too many in the classifieds lately.
also is my understanding on turbo's correct or am i an idiot?

Oh i see, i didn't read that the first time, thats somewhat of an overly simple explanation but its not far from the truth, while the whole turbo's design predicts how much boost you can run the compressor section is very important and like wise a large compressor can slow down spool time but the real determining factor is on the turbine side.

You'll also need to be more specific on your power goals, and you budget that you're willing to spend. "looking for deals", may not work for you if you don't understand the costs associated with each turbocharger. Or your budget needs are not realistic. Just the truth.
my power goal is to make the most hp i can with what i have done on pump gas, budget is pretty good and yes i know what turbochargers go for and that's why i asked who has good deals. If i can get a charger 200$ cheaper somewhere i would like to do wouldn't you? I also am fine buying one used if its good condition or if its priced right and needs a rebuild then i will rebuild it.
Give me a PM if you'd like about these available options; until then, you have some homework to do before you can get any REAL assistance..
Good luck.
Your budget and desired powerband?
I'm all about making sure what you end up using gives you some room to grow, but it's a double-edged sword...what may work great now may be crap down the road, and vice versa.
BTW, your LS/VTEC kit and headstuds are in, tried getting in touch..lmk if you want to come by and get you setup with a turbo
